5 Maui Coffee Shops That We Like A Latte
We’re spilling the beans on five of our favorite Maui coffee shops! So, pour yourself a cup of joe while we take you on a little java jaunt.
Sip Me (Makawao)
Located in the charming paniolo (Hawaiian for cowboy) town of Makawao, Sip Me offers a cute retreat from shopping. It features local craft coffee from Maui Oma Roasting Company including its House Blend and a menu of traditional European-style espresso. In addition to its knockout coffee and tea variety, Sip Me serves locally made treats including vegan options from several local bakers.
Belle Surf Cafe (Lahaina)
We originally came for the crepes but stayed for the selection of creative coffee drinks and surfer boho vibes (and also, more crepes!). Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Lahaina’s historic Front Street, Belle Surf Café offers a menu of fun and unique coffee beverages. Make sure to try one of our faves, the Spiced Lavender Mocha, which is a double espresso with chocolate, eatery spices, house made lavender syrup and milk. This adorable café, which was founded by a French native, incorporates both French and Maui touches and offers an extensive selection of both sweet and savory crepes. Brandon’s pick is the Califiornian crepe with egg, bacon, mozzarella, tomato and avocado, while I love the Smile crepe with fresh Kula strawberries and Nutella.
Wailuku Coffee Company (Wailuku & Haiku)
“Where the hip come to sip” is the tagline for this ultra cool, but yet casual and approachable, café. Set on Market Street, this flagship coffee shop in Wailuku Town was created with the intent of being a community hub for coffee, food, conversation and arts. Wailuku Coffee Company delivers on all of that and more. Enjoy breakfast or lunch with your caffeine choice and stay for a while. Or grab coffee and check out Wailuku’s murals and shopping.
Akamai Coffee (Kahului, Kihei & Wailea)
Honeybee Latte. Hanging chairs. Locally grown and roasted coffee. You might be like wait, what? But these are just a few of the reasons we love Akamai Coffee. Located in Kahului, Kihei and Wailea, Akamai serves 100% Maui grown and roasted coffee, which is also available for purchase by the bag both in-cafe and online. It also offers delicious treats which vary daily, but if you see cinnamon rolls or scones on the menu, make sure to get one! We typically visit the Kihei shop since it’s right near our THERE Maui House. We particularly love this location for its modern boho feel, insta-worthy hanging chairs and its drive-through.
Kraken Coffee (Kahului & Kihei)
Need some coffee on the go? With two food truck style locations in both Kahului and Kihei, Kraken Coffee will help you “get kraken” with ease. The food trucks offer the convenience of a drive through. Plus, it features an extensive menu including traditional coffee and tea options and signature coffee drinks like the Maui Mango Mocha. Oh, did we mention it even has Kraken Coffee Ice Cubes for your iced coffee?! And the cold brew is on tap. It’s safe to say this is a great spot for a quick pick-me-up. Cheers!
