Ask a local, Siri or Alexa where to get pie on Maui, and every one of them will likely mention Leoda’s Kitchen & Pie Shop. Nestled along a tree-canopied stretch of highway in Olowalu about 20 minutes outside of Lahaina, Leoda’s is an adorable destination restaurant. With its country general store vibes and its “glorified grandma comfort food” (as they’ve coined it), it is worth the drive. We highly recommend grabbing lunch or dinner (think – sandwiches on artisan bread and gourmet burgers) before enjoying their famous pies! Leoda’s offers a selection of mini pies throughout the year. We are huge fans of the Chocolate Mac Nut, Pineapple Mac Nut and Apple Crumb. Large pies are also available by pre-order during the holiday season.
Maui Pie (Kihei)
Looking for a sweet little pie shop on Maui’s South Shore with a lot of heart? Look no further than Maui Pie at the Azeka Plaza in Kihei. This darling spot is open year-round, Monday-Saturday and features both sweet and savory pies in a variety of sizes. From mini’s (6-inch) to large (9-inch) pies and even pie by the slice, Maui Pie is a great go-to for a party of one or 10. While they offer a menu full of fruit and cream pies, we love the Cherry Mango and frequently buy it as a welcome amenity for our guests at the THERE Maui House. It’s a delicious tropical take on a classic. Oh, and aside from the great taste, their pies are distinguished by a signature, flaky pie-crust heart, making them almost too cute to eat… almost!
Pono Pies (Kihei, Kahului, Paia)
The term “guilt-free pie” may seem like a misnomer. But, Maui Breadfruit Company’s Pono Pies are actually just that. While this vegan dessert skips on the sugar, flour, gluten and dairy, it is big on flavor. Pono Pies are made with locally grown ingredients like breadfruit, Macadamia nuts, honey and almond milk. This rich and creamy pie filling is complimented with a crunchy, sweet and savory crust of Macadamia nuts, coconut flakes and honey. Find Pono Pies throughout Hawaii. Located in North Kihei across the street from the beach, this tiny but mighty bakery features a caseful of delicious treats including mini pies, like Lilikoi Key Lime and Banana Cream. It’s also the perfect one-stop shop when you are looking to satisfy a pie craving while accommodating other bakery needs.
Home Maid Bakery (Wailuku)
Last but not least, centrally located Home Maid Bakery in Wailuku is a great option for pie throughout the year! This full-service bakery’s pies are made fresh daily. The menu of flavors includes Apple, Custard, Pumpkin and Haupia (Coconut) Cream.
