Kula Country Farms U-Pick

Move over, pineapple. Hold on, mango. There’s another fruit on the block! Perhaps to some surprise, Upcountry Maui’s cooler temperatures are perfect for growing strawberries. As such, each February through June, Kula Country Farms offers the chance to pick the popular fruit at their adorable patch. From finding the ripest berries with panoramic ocean views, to shopping the farm stand, to posing for the shameless selfie and enjoying a strawberry Italian soda, we highly recommend adding Strawberry U-Pick to the list of fun things to do on Maui in the spring!

But before you start pinning your favorite strawberry recipes, come with us to learn more about Strawberry U-Pick and Kula Country Farms!

ABOUT KULA COUNTRY FARMS:

Set on the majestic slopes of Haleakala, Kula Country Farms is a family-owned farm and farm stand. While the farm stand is open throughout the year, Kula Country Farms also offers some of our favorite fun things to do on Maui with its seasonal experiences. These include its popular and oh-so-Instagrammable pumpkin patch every October and its darling Strawberry U-Pick each spring.

THE STRAWBERRY U-PICK EXPERIENCE:

While the groundhog’s shadow or lack thereof can sometimes help indicate a change of seasons, the opening of the Kula Country Farms strawberry patch is a sure-fire early sign of spring on Maui. The U-Pick season typically kicks off mid-February until the end of June. The patch is open two days a week, usually Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO TIPS:

We highly recommend going in the morning for the best selection of strawberries. Note, if you do plan on going later in the day, get there before 3 p.m. as U-Pick typically closes before the rest of the farm.

First, upon arrival, swing by the Farm Stand to pick up a basket before heading to the patch. Follow the patch rules and recommendations, which include not overfilling baskets or pulling out plants. Once you’re done, return to the stand with your strawberry haul to check out.

THE FARM STAND:

Open year-round, Kula Country Farms’ stand features its local produce, honey, jams, baked good and more! Shop strawberries, onions, blueberries, squash, cucumbers, as well as flowers and starter plants. The grounds also offer picnic tables, a children’s garden and farm animals.

THE SIPS & SNACKS:

Looking for some refreshments? Check out Country Coffee Maui at Kula Country Farms. The menu includes espresso, lattes, teas, cookies and our fave – Italian sodas! The Strawberry Italian soda is a must-try while at the farm.

OTHER UPCOUNTRY ACTIVITIES

Don’t just stop at Kula Country Farms – plan a day Upcountry! This gorgeous area of Maui offers unparalleled views, cooler temps and often, less people than the beach towns. Plus, there’s so much to see and do! Add some other farms to your list like Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm or Surfing Goat Dairy. And don’t forget to stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Grandma’s Coffee House and Kula Lodge are two of our nearby faves!
