Aloha! Mahalo for stopping by!

We’re Klara & Brandon, just a couple of lovebirds living in Maui, Hawaii. We are originally from Connecticut and Washington (respectively) and moved to the beautiful Valley Isle together in 2015 from the island of Oahu. Living in Hawaii has given both of us the opportunity to cherish life – every mile of the journey – a little more.

A few years ago, we purchased our first vintage VW bus, Gypsea, and later a 1972 VW bus, Lili. Both buses inspired us to slow down and be present – or THERE – as we like to say! Whether we’re hiking through South Maui’s old lava fields, relaxing at one of many pristine beaches or doing the especially hard work of picking out a local treat to enjoy while watching Netflix, we always carry this notion with us.

We are forever grateful to call Maui our home and are so STOKED to share our experiences with you so that you can use them to be THERE while you’re on your own adventure! So…sit back, relax, pour yourself a glass of POG (passion orange guava juice) and dig in!

You could say it all started with the occasional Facebook message from an old high school friend who was honeymooning on Maui or an email from Mom’s work acquaintance’s daughter who, you guessed it, was also visiting Maui…

No matter who was reaching out, the questions were always the same. Then, we became Airbnb hosts, and we started to get requests for recommendations more frequently. The more and more we heard “Can you send us some tips?”, we realized we could truly help make someone’s day better just by sharing our island experience. Thus, the idea for the THERE Maui Blog was born!

As we’ve worked to bring this blog to life, it’s evolved to what we hope will be a destination and lifestyle resource for both those who are planning to visit and for those who already call Maui home.

Now, we’re certainly not fancy restaurant critics and by no means are we Maui experts. BUT, we’re excited to treat you just like our family, friends, guests and even Mom’s work acquaintance’s daughter, and share some of our island favorites including wonderful local businesses so you can truly be THERE when you’re enjoying or dreaming of Maui!

Be Our Guest

In addition to the THERE Maui Blog, we are proud Airbnb Superhosts of the THERE Maui House. Our permitted 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom Kihei vacation home was created with the intention of inspiring travelers to slow down, experience the island and be THERE for every moment.

Located less than a mile from the beach and close to many of the island’s best dining options, the THERE Maui House is the perfect place to stay while visiting the Valley Isle. Spend mornings sipping locally grown and roasted coffee on the intimate deck off of the master bedroom. Then, head to a nearby beach or hike. In the late afternoon, enjoy pau hana (Happy Hour) on the main deck of the House before getting ready to dine at one of South Maui’s many restaurants. As the day comes to a close, retreat back to the House and get some rest on one of two plush king-size beds.
